Name of the Project: 99 MW Lachung HEP.
The Project was awarded to M/s Lachung Hydro Power Pvt Limited a Special Purpose Vehicle formed by M/s Polyplex India Pvt Limited. The Project is allotted on BOOT basis with the condition that the State shall get 12% free power from the Project during the 1st 15 years of its operation and 15% from 16th to 35th year. The project will revert back to the State after 35th year in good running condition.
Location of the Project.
Dam: The Dam of the Project is proposed across Lachungchu river in North Sikkim near Lachung Village in North Sikkim.
Powerhouse: The prpoposed powerhouse is located on the right bank of Lachungchu near Lachung Village in North Sikkim.
Present Status of the Project:
The State Governemnt has terminated the MOU signed with the developer. The developer has filed a petition before the Hon'ble High Court of Sikkim and the matter is sub-judice.
