Sikkim Power Development Corpn. Limited (SPDCL)

 Sikkim Power Development Corporation , a Government of Sikkim Enterprise, is engaged in the business of developemnt of Hydro Power Projects in Sikkim. The Corporation is developing hydro power project of capacity upto 25 MW. The Corporation has selected M/s Athena Power Projects Pvt Limited as its strategi partner to bring in more efficieny and resources for development of the Corporation.

Since its inception in the year 1998-99, the Corporaion has successfully implemented and commissioned the following hydropower projects:

i. 5 MW Rongli Smal HEP.

ii. 3 MW Lachung Small HEP.

iii. 2 MW Mangley Small HEP.

The Corporation has executed PPAs with the Energy & Power Department, Government of Sikkim for sale of power from the above three Projects. The power from the projects are being fed into the State Grid of the Energy & Power Department.

The Corporation has also identified and prepared DPRs for some other small hydro power projects in the State. The following is the list of such projects:

i. 16 MW Upper Rimbi HEP.

ii. 7 MW Chuba HEP.

iii. 7 MW Upper Rongli HEP.

iv. 1 MW Ringyang HEP.

v. 3 MW Hee Khola HEP.

The Corporation is also implementing 3 MW Chatten Small HEP near Lachen Village in North Sikkim. The Project is under construction and is scheduled to be commissioned by November 2014. Another Project 12 MW Relichu HEP in West Sikkim is also under construction. The corporation will be taking up implementation of the identified projects in the near future. 

Location of the Projects:

(1). 5 MW Rongli HEP : The Project is located on Rongli Khola, a tributary of Rangpochu at Sishney village near Rongli Bazar in East Sikkim.

(2). 3 MW Lachung HEP : The Project is located on Sargophui Chu a tributary of Lachungchu near Lachung Village in North Sikkim.

(3)  2 MW Mangley HEP :  The Project is located on Mangley Khola, a tributary of Teesta river near Mangley village in South Sikkim.
